An experienced criminal lawyer, Arthur started his career as a commercial lawyer in 1991 before transferring to criminal law in 1994. Arthur has a reputation as a strong, independently minded advocate. He’s been involved in many high profile cases which attracted both regional and national attention. It is not unusual for his caseload to include matters being dealt with at the most well-known national Courts.

Arthur is a Police Station and Court Duty Solicitor.

Rob New

Prior to starting Breydons with Arthur Balls in 2004, Rob worked for many of the prominent criminal law practices in Norfolk. Rob is an experienced advocate with a wide client base. He is qualified, as a Solicitor Advocate of the higher courts to appear in the Crown Court. Rob’s considerable experience as a prison lawyer allowed the LSC to grant him a position of Prison Law Supervisor. Rob is a Police Station and Court Duty Solicitor.

Rob also prosecutes on behalf of the Environment Agency.

Richard Mann
Richard MannDirector
Richard joined Breydons as a Director in January 2014. He works as a police station duty solicitor and court duty solicitor.

Qualified in 1999, Richard is well known professionally across Suffolk where he has worked for a number of prominent legal practices.

An expert in criminal law, he was a welcome addition to our team following a merger with his own legal practice, Proffitt and Mann.

A welcome addition to the firm, James joins us with 12 years experience of working in the criminal justice system.

He is a Crown Court caseworker and police station accredited representative who is committed to the practice of law and to the local area.

He has forged strong links with the legal community, both locally and in the greater London area during his career and has an excellent relationship with local Barristers chambers ensuring his clients are provided with the best end to end service.

Claire EdgelerAssistant Solicitor and Youth Law expert
Claire qualified as a solicitor in 1988 and up until 1992 Claire was a general practitioner of the law.

Claire has specialised in Criminal law for the last 17 years. She has extensive experience in all aspects of the criminal justice system from the police station through to the Magistrates Courts.
She is a qualified Solicitor Advocate giving her rights of audience in the Crown Court but spends most of her time in the Magistrates Courts throughout Norfolk and East Anglia. She has a reputation for being a formidable advocate and is widely respected by both clients and colleagues alike. She re- joined Breydons in 2017 and is now part of the successful Breydons’ trials team.

She has an unsurpassable reputation in the Youth Court representing minors under the age of 18. As a Parent with a child in trouble with the law, Claire is definitely the best solicitor for you.


Andrew Spence

Andrew spent many years as a dedicated criminal practitioner in North Norfolk. He is a thorough and committed lawyer who deals with all of his casework in a characteristically clearheaded and insightful manner. It is no surprise therefore that he comes to Breydons bringing with him a significant client following in both private client and regulatory client fields. Andrew is a Solicitor Advocate of the Higher Courts and a Police Station and Court Duty Solicitor on the Norwich scheme.

Rob joined us in January 2014 as an assistant solicitor and we are now delighted to announce his promotion to an Associate.

He specialises in trial advocacy and boasts an enviable trial success record. He is experienced in all areas of criminal law and has represented clients in several high profile cases, including sporting personalities and celebrities.

Andrew ShearingPolice Station Representative
Andrew joined Breydons in March 2016 to Head up the Police Station Team. He is a well-known and highly regarded individual in the criminal legal world with over 30 years’ experience. There are few police officers who would not have heard of the infamous Mr Shearing. A formidable force to be reckoned with, who passionately defends the rights of his clients, definitely a client favourite.

Andrew lives and was educated in Norfolk. In that time he has worked almost exclusively in the field of criminal defence for local practices, and also acted as relief Coroner’s Clerk during the 1990s. Andrew is able to represent those who find themselves arrested or in need of advice at the Police Station and his extensive experience in this field makes him an excellent choice of legal representation.


Peter Spary
Peter SparySolicitor Advocate
Peter joined the firm in February 2016 as a solicitor advocate specialising in all areas of criminal law.

He has a particular interest in complex cases, violent and sexual crimes and brings a wealth of experience in the cross-examination of young and vulnerable witnesses.

He is a regular and successful trial advocate across East Anglia in both the Crown and Magistrates Court, being a Solicitor Advocate of the Higher Courts.

Kelly SkeggsChief Executive Officer
Kelly brings a rare combination of attributes; an all-round practicing solicitor, commercial acumen and extensive business management experience.

Her previous roles have included working in the senior management teams within professional football organisations in the UK through to Operations Manager of a contractor management company in Australia.

Kelly is a dedicated sportswoman, with Table Tennis as her sport of choice, at her peak Kelly reach the top 7 in England.  20 years of playing the game at National level has led her to her current role as a Non-Executive Director of Table Tennis England (the National Governing Body).  She is now a keen CrossFit enthusiast and recreational golfer.  She spends her weekends with her son Oscar, friends and family.


Olga Senkova
Olga SenkovaPolice Station Representative
Another valuable addition to the firm, Olga also joins us from Fraser Dawbarns solicitors. Having gained a Law Degree in Latvia, she then moved to the UK to pursue a career in law. Olga has since completed the Police Station Representatives Accreditation Scheme (PSRAS) to represent and advise suspects at the police station.

She attends at Crown Courts as a Clerk and regularly attends for prison visits. She assists in preparing all types of criminal cases including allegations of rape, fraud, violent disorder, robbery and conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. As part of her role Olga, assists barristers in reviewing the evidence, instructing experts, and speaking to witnesses. Olga is multi-lingual, speaking English, Russian and Latvian.

Tiffany Meredith
Tiffany MeredithPart-Time Assistant Solicitor
Tiffany joined Breydons in August 2016.

She qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and has represented clients at the police station dealing with matters ranging from murder and robbery to theft and assault. Tiffany is an experienced Magistrates’ Court advocate and has successfully defended numerous clients at trial on a variety of matters from road traffic offences to cases of serious violence to benefit fraud.

She also has significant experience preparing cases in the Crown Court, most recently working on the preparation of a multi-million pound fraud. Her experience ranges from human trafficking and child cruelty to drugs offences cases. Tiffany assists both private and publicly funded defendants.
